(ENG) We finished a month ago the exhibition design of United States Of Europe, a arts travelling exhibition about European identity and today's Europe.  We were so busy before holidays that we didn't have time to post anything about it. Below, some pics of our work.

/// EXHIBITION DEVIR MENOR

(ENG) We arrived yesterday from a long weekend in Guimarães where we went to see the opening of the exhibition Devir Menor and to meet the other collectives that were part of this event. We grab the opportunity and we also saw other interesting events and art exhibitions related to Guimarães 2012 European Capital of Culture. We post bellow some photos of Devir Menor, the exhibition where we had presented our project Kitchain that, by the way, it will open in just ten days for it's fourth edition in Fribourg, Swizerland. We will post more news about this in the next days.

/// KITCHAIN IN THE EXHIBITION DEVIR MENOR

(ENG) Our project Kitchain will be part of the exhibition Devir Menor that will open next saturday June 16 in the city of Guimarães. We will give a small talk about the project integrated in the pre-opening programme of the exhibition.

Devir Menor  explores projects sensitive to the specificity of contextual conditions, often using other tactics to the traditional methodology of architecture and making a social and economic operative critique, committed on transformation and on revitalization of its context. The architectural project acquires a proximity to everyday life and a processual nature, the modalities of relation with the context change the project itself and the work becomes reflexive and relational. These works are close to cultural practices, characterized also by a particular reconciliation that defies the global and local; they have a strong spatial component and use, among others, techniques of materials recycling, reuse of existing resources, the do-it yourself, or experiment various work modes. The project´s concept is a collaboration between Inês Moreira (architect and curator) and Susana Caló (philosophy researcher and editor)

The exhibition consists of a spatial immersive installation that explores the potential of the drawings, registers, videos and pictures of the invited participants, privileging an informal and intuitive relation with the public. It also presents a selection of 50 reference publications, as well as documental materials and essays produced especially for the project. The installation will establish a dialogue with the building of Sociedade Martins Sarmento, a proeminent building in the city of Guimarães, designed by the architect Marques da Silva.

/// KITCHAIN IN THE ARTEFACT FESTIVAL

(ENG)  Our project Kitchain will be part of the Artfact Festival that will take place in the city of Leuven, Belgium between 14 and 23 of February.  The Kitchain   is a construction consisting of a large number of foldable tables and benches that can be assembled into different structures, depending on the space. It also contains 3 kitchenettes and a grill.  The concept was developed for the Belluard Festival and every year since 2009 is assembled on the festival main venue.

In the Artfact Festival version you can to queue for a delicious ready made dinner, cooked by the STUK catering team, or you can cook for yourselves with friends or strangers at a do-it-yourself table. The STUKcafé, courtyard and artist kitchen (normally a backstage area) will become a meeting point for Artefact and Kulturama visitors, artists and the STUK team. Key words are social contact, sustainability, creative design and, above all, loads of fun.
Some evenings you can make a reservation to cook and dine with some of Artefact's artists and guests (Sarah Vanhee, Rudi Laermans, ...). Booking starts on 1st of February.

/// MOOV IN THE EXHIBITION STRATEGIES FOR PUBLIC OCCUPATION

(ENG) Yellow Arrow and Demo_polis has been included in the exhibition "Strategies for Public Occupation" that will be on view until Thursday December 22nd on the Store Front for Art and Architecture in New York.  The projects are displayed in the form of postcards. These postcards will be available to the public the last day of the exhibition - Dec 22nd - to be sent to the pertinent Structures of Power. You can find images and videos of the exhibition on the website.

Architecture & Inclusion 14.04 > 06.06.2010 Jaroslav Fragner Gallery Prague . Czech Republic The exhibition will present contemporary European architecture, reflecting on the social issues of a society in the 21st century. This is a joint project of the EUNIC Cluster Czech Republic, where about 10 EU countries will present a variety of approaches and perspectives, possible solutions and ideas on social and cultural inclusion and integration. This exhibition can function as a statement of our involvement and interest in the development of urban and social environment in Europe, make new links for further networking and laying contacts among European architects, working on projects related to inclusion in architecture. This project originated in the framework of the European Year of Inclusion and Fight Against Poverty. The participating countries are Portugal, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Norway, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania. The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme including lectures, presentations, debates and workshops.

(PT) O programa GERAÇÃO Z iniciou-se no final de 2007, quando começámos a convidar práticas arquitectónicas emergentes a mostrar o seu trabalho num caderno específico, integrado na revista arq|a. Neste caderno, pedimos a novos ateliers por nós seleccionados para apresentarem livremente a sua actividade em 8 páginas, defendendo que o trabalho exposto e o modo a sua apresentação são realidades cada vez mais interdependentes e interrelacionados. Ao fim de quase uma dezena de participações, os cadernos amplamente diversificados demonstram a pluralidade das abordagens dos novos ateliers portugueses. Agora, respondendo a um desafio da OASRS, vai iniciar-se um novo estádio do programa GERAÇÃO Z, com um primeiro ciclo de exposições, compreendendo 4 práticas emergentes (1ª sessão: MOOV +arquitectos anónimos®; 2ª sessão: kaputt! + AUZprojekt). A estes ateliers é pedido que mostrem o seu trabalho, apropriando o espaço tridimensional da galeria de exposições da sede da Ordem dos Arquitectos, tal como antes o tinham feito bidimensionalmente com as páginas do caderno GERAÇÃO Z da revista arq|a. O trabalho apresentado e a forma da sua exposição serão, deste modo, da responsabilidade criativa e produtiva dos ateliers envolvidos, sob nossa supervisão curatorial. Este programa compreende não só um ciclo de exposições, mas igualmente o lançamento de uma revista-catálogo «GERAÇÃOZ #1», a realização de uma série de conferências-debate com os ateliers e críticos convidados, a abertura do blog «http://geracaoz.worldpress.com» e, finalmente, a antevisão do próximo ciclo com a conferência «NEXT: GERAÇÃO Z #2» (Embaixada + Extrastudio + plano b + ReD). Habitats Abertos - Protótipo Habitável para as Galápagos

(PT) O projecto Habitats Abertos vai estar exposto no Museu da Água em Coimbra no âmbito da exposição Green Building organizada pela Casa da Vizinha Não é Tão Verde Como a Minha, até agora um directório de projectos com preocupações ecológicas mas que em breve vai passar a revista online com a mesma temática.

A exposição inaugura a 22 Março pelas 15 horas e estará patente até 3 de Maio e poderá ser visitada de terça-feira a domingo, das 10h00 às 13h00 e das 14h00 às 18h00.

(PT) Dia 9 Julho pelas 19h na Sede da Ordem dos Arquitectos os MOOV inauguram a exposição “Cidade Imaginária” onde apresentarão uma maquete de uma cidade imaginária desenvolvida com 10 jovens detidos no Centro Educativo de Caxias. Na mesma ocasião haverá uma conversa/apresentação do trabalho desenvolvido com estes jovens desde Outubro de 2007. Estão todos convidados.

(ENG) On the 9th of July around 19p.m. in the seat of the “Ordem dos Arquitectos”, MOOV will open the exhibition “Imaginary City”, where they will show a maquette of an imaginery city developed by 10 teenagers that are hindered in the Educational Center of Caxias. In the same occasion it will be a talk/presentation of the work that has been made with these teenagers since October 2007. You are all welcome.
